Hastings 2002

Entertainer Bradley Walsh had been a friend of CUP for many years and called in to see if they could pull together a charity game for a lottery winner from Hastings FC. Conversations ensued with Jimmy Ball, the son of England legend Alan Ball, about bringing their Legends team to play the CUP Stars. An England v Germany World Cup theme was agreed and thousands were to show up to see history being made. Sir Geoff Hurst & George Cohen managed the Legends team captained by Alan Ball with Peter Bonetti in goal. With legendary players Tony Currie, Paul Parker and Jimmy Case also in the team it was an impressive turn out. Unsurprisingly the younger CUP celebrities led by Mickey Thomas and guided by the tactical genius of Bradley Walsh were to fall short despite great performances from Michael Greco & Mike McClean.
